A four goal salvo, with two coming in each half saw Citys
young reserve
side go top of the Totesport reserve league.
Swedish striker John Guidetti opened the scoring on 12 minutes against an Accrington side that contained three trialists. Jack Redshaws half hit shot went through the legs of the keeper stood on the
six yard line allowing Guidetti a simple tap in. Redshaw then got his name on the score sheet with the first of two in the game, scoring on 28 minutes.
Very little was to be seen of the visitors, whose strength in numbers must surely have been depleted as their first team squad were playing at home against Brentford on the same day, with their one
real chance coming just before the half time break when Eirik Johansen was forced to tip over his bar a cross come shot from the Accrington number 7.
Further goals arrived in the second half. Guidetti got his second of the game after Tom Smith chased a ball into the box and under a challenge from the Accrington keeper the ball only went as far as
Craig Frater who crossed for the unmarked Swede to finish.
Redshaw earned City a penalty on 82 minutes , starting a move from some distance out he went past a couple of Accrington defenders only to be up ended in the box by the visitors number 4. Redshaw
duly picked himself up and dispatched the awarded penalty to the left of the keeper.
Victory as mentioned sent City to the top of the league and with games against their nearest challengers next week, Carlisle United and Burnley, things could be looking very positive in a league
where the City side, who mainly consist of players under the age of seventeen, constantly come up against sides with senior pros in them, and are holding their own
