Blackburn Rovers 2 v 2 Manchester City

Kennedy 22'

Angel 53'

What a contrast to the weather from Manchester to Blackburn as today was played in quite torrid conditions at times and so it was impossible to write notes on the match. City however again threw away a two nil victory with goals from Kieran Kennedy and Joan Roman Angel.

As usual the game became rather temestuous as the referee failed to get a grip of the game as tackles got a bit too tasty at times.

City took the lead from a Bradley Robinson corner that was not fully cleared and it fell to Kieran about eight yards out and he turned and finished into the far corner of the goal.

In previous games City have been a bit sluggish at the start of the second half but they were much more purposeful today and so it was no surprise that City doubled their advantage eight minutes after the break when a good move down the right involving kennedy, Evans and then into the feet of Adam Drury who beat the fullback and drove a cross in that hit the inside of the post and came out to Angel who smashed the ball into the roof of the goal.

Just over ten minutes later and Blackburn had pulled a goal back when the weather made the ball slice of someone's boot and fell to the Blackburn player who drove the ball back through the crowd of players and was deflected into the far corner of the goal.

Then City altered their shape and brought on Emerick Hippias and within minutes he made a telling contribution when he made a clumsy push on the Blackburn player when he was moving away from goal. The penalty was struck straight down the middle as Johansen dived to his right.

Interestingly that Courtney Meppen-Walter was on the bench today because the sixteen year old had played the full ninety minutes in Amsterdam on Thursday afternoon. Next up for City is a home game against Liverpool where hopefully they will be able to take a lead and hold on to it.
