City reserves began their Central League Campaign (formerly Pontins League) on Wednesday afternoon when they played Blackpool at Highbury Stadium the home of Blue Square North newcomers Fleetwood Town at a ground that had undergone a £1 million redevelopment over the summer months, with two new stands, Football league standard floodlights, a new social club and catering facilities.

The home side named a strong line up with five of their summer signings named in the starting line up, while City named a young side.

Both teams went in at the break with no goals to either name however the second half was to produce four goals with City running out the victors

Blackpool opened the scoring on 53 mins through Steve Kabba but were soon rocked by a flurry of goals from the young Blues, with three arriving in the space of eight minutes, Irish youngster Greg Cunningham equalised on 78 minutes but it was two young Norwegians who grasped all three points for City, Omar Elabdellaoui put them in front on 85 minutes and a minute later Abdislam Ibrahim made it three, to complete a good start to the season
