Bolton Lose Edgey Ten A Side

MCFC U18s 2 - 1 BWFC U18s

Both City and Bolton ended the match with ten men when what looked like a racial comment from Donal McDermott after he fell over in the opposition's box and confronted David Gbemie who in turn went berserk and got himself sent off in the process along with McDermott.
City played the better of the two teams in the first half and took a two nil lead thanks to a brace from David Ball. The first goal was quite bizarre; McDermott had been fouled on the edge of the box and he quickly took the free kick and found Ball who like every other player was completely static, not realising that the ball was in play, but clearly David did notice the quickest and slotted the ball into an empty net on nine minutes. Ian Daly saw his shot cleared of the line on sixteen minutes.
Ten minutes before the break, City doubled their advantage when left back Ryan McGivern sent a good cross from the left for Ball to rise above the defenders and guide the ball into the net. Five minutes later Bolton pulled a goal back when a ball from the left was allowed to come across and the Bolton player had an easy tap in at the far post.
Bolton played a lot better in the second half and put City under a lot of pressure but as the score line shows the City defence was able to hold firm. City however nearly made the score unrealistic with a fine twenty five yard drive by Scott Kay that the keeper did very well to save as it was heading for the bottom corner.
