MCFC U18s 3 - 1 BFC U18s
Burnley became the first opposition to play on the new state of the art pitch at Platt Lane today and despite not having academy status yet they were pretty competitive and made a composed City work for their victory. City's goal scorers were over age Jack Redshaw, big John Guidetti and new signing Jean Roman Olle.
City's first goal came in the thirteenth minute when Guidetti held the ball up before releasing Redshaw to bear down on goal and cheekily chipped with the outside of his boot into the top corner of the goal over the advancing goalkeeper; which was not dissimilar to Robinho's goal against Arsenal at COMS.
City doubled their lead early in the second half when this time Redshaw became provider with a deep cross from the right which Guidetti rose up and headed down and past the goalkeeper into the far corner of the goal.
Burnley managed to pull a goal back eight minutes later with a ball through to their number eleven on the left and he advanced into the box before slipping a low shot past second half substitute Eirik Johansen into the far right corner of the goal.
City's third came from a solo effort from Olle on the right hand side where he beat the defence on the right and played himself into the area before coolly placing the ball into the far corner of the goal of the inside of the post.
