Bury Score Reversed at City

MCFC Reserves 3 - 2 BFC Reserves

After last week's refereeing debacle at Bury's Radcliffe reserve home; City had the chance to make amends of what should have been a totally different score line. City again fielded the usual younger side but this time Bury included a few experienced and older players. Bury had taken a two nil lead in the first half with a header in the twelfth and a penalty in the twenty fourth minute. Three minutes later City had pulled a goal back from Jack Redshaw and he went on to score a brace in the sixty third minute and the winner coming in the ninety second minute with a thunderbolt shot from John Guidetti.

City did not play well in the opening minutes with the defence not dealing with ball very well and generally looking at sixes and sevens with one another and so it was no real surprise to see Bury take the lead when goalkeeper Eirik Johansen made an poor attempt to come for the ball and there was bandanna wearing experienced defender Efetobore Sodje to stoop a header into the empty net.

Yet again from first impressions City looked to have been given a referee that wanted to assist Bury when their player running side by side with Aaron Carter lost his footing and went down and the referee awarded what looked a totally undeserved penalty. Midfielder Richie Baker stepped up and hit a strong shot that even though Johansen went the right way; could not get a hand to.

Three minutes later was all about Redshaw as he made a great solo run that cut through the defence and was able to coolly slot the ball past Cameron Belford in the Bury goal.

Eighteen minutes after the break City equalized when good work by Adrian Cieslewicz on the right found Guidetti who evaded the defence and sent a good low hard cross into the area that Redshaw ran in to convert.

Bury nearly regained the lead when again the referee awarded a very soft penalty; but justice was done as Jack Dorney smashed the ball against the left post of the goal and the ball rebounded out for a City throw in.

City's winner was pretty spectacular as again Redshaw made a strong solo run into the box; this time from the left and he saw Guidetti bearing down towards goal and Jack released the ball and looked to have over run the pass but Guidetti somehow maintained his balance to get over the ball and smash an unstoppable shot past Belford to win it for City.
