MCFC Reserves 5 - 2 CUFC Reserves

After watching the first team go scoring mad the young team that now play in the newly sponsored central reserve league nearly replicated their older team mates by putting five past Carlisle last night with our very own pocket dynamo Jack Redshaw scoring four goals and Adrian Cieslewicz getting the other. Carlisle scored their goals late on and their second coming with the last kick of the game.

Carlise started brightly as on loan striker Michael Bridges forced a fine save from the ever improving Tobias Johansen. City however took the lead in the fifth minute when Angelos Tsiaklis made a strong run and twenty five yard strike that hit the cross bar and Ian Daly and tried to head the rebound in but the ball went over his head and Redshaw ran in from the edge of the area to fire the ball into the goal.

Carlisle still pressed forward and Grant Smith saw a twenty five yard free kick hit the crossbar but again it was City that found the back of the net a few minutes later when a fine run down the right by Cieslewicz who crossed in and Carlisle's goalkeeper Chris Howarth was unable to stop the ball falling to Redshaw who fired into an empty net.

Not to be outdone in the scorer as Cieslewicz got himself on the score sheet when an Omar Elabdellaoui ball over to the right was latched onto by Adrian who found Howarth rushing out to him and he finished with a fine chip into the near post of the goal.

Carlisle again refused to stop pressing forward as again they hit the woodwork and fired a fine ball across the goal but again it was City that found that killer punch seven minutes before the end of the half when Redshaw made a great solo run from the half way line and pushed the ball past Howarth into the bottom corner of the goal and score a fine hat-trick.

City scored their fifth goal to completely kill the game off in the seventh minute of the second half when a Ben Morris corner was fired into the near post that Howarth tried to get to, but failed as the ball was headed on and looped up and the smallest player on the pitch, Redshaw leaped up to rise above the defence to head in at the far post to score his fourth of the game.

Carlisle made all three of their substitutions and that seemed to give them that little bit more impetus as they eventually got the ball over the City goal line. A strong run by Smith down the right as he ghosted past players and fired the ball across the area and there was substitute Conor Tinnion to put the ball away.

Then in the second minute of injury time Luke Joyce hit a great speculative shot from thirty five yards out that Johansen had to push around the post for a corner. Tinnion then became provider as his corner was delivered into the danger area for Smith to run in and power a good header into the bottom corner of the goal.

That result put City top of the league after a 100% record in their opening three fixtures. City travel to Accrington next week to face high flying Burnley for their next match.
