MCFC U18s 3 - 4 CAFC U18s

In a topsy turvy game, City came out the losers in this seven goal encounter. A brace of goals from Kelvin Etuhu and an own goal was not sufficient to even get a point for the home side. City pressured Crewe at times but Crewe’s defence did enough at key times although I’m sure they will not have been happy to concede three goals as well. City had taken the lead early on from Kelvin then Crewe went two one up. City pulled back level with a wickedly deflected Paul Marshall strike that goes down as an own goal, but almost immediately Crewe went three two up. City again drew level when at the third attempt Kelvin received the ball and hammered the ball into the roof of the net. Again within three minutes Crewe took the lead with an excellent twenty five yard left foot strike from their impressive right winger. City’s academy season seems to be faltering after such a good start. They travel to Wolves next Saturday, lets hope they can get a more positive result.

City(4-4-2): Matthewson(GK), Obeng, Logan, Breen, McDonald, Grimes, Williams, Johnson, Etuhu, Sturridge, Moore.

Better news for the U16s they won 5-2 with a very impressive hat-trick from our Irish left winger.
