Manchester City 2 Crewe Alexander 0

Just half a match report Im afraid, as we had to join the thousands of others who were to witness the rebirth of City at Blackburn

It was the final pre season game of a mixed opening to the season for Citys academy side and we only witnessed the opening 45 minutes, so its only a brief report I am afraid,

After a quiet opening, it was the final 15 minutes of the half that saw the majority of the action. On thirty minutes Ahmad Benali had a shot cleared off the line after the Crewe keeper half stopped Jack Redshaw's free kick from the edge of the box.

The next piece of action was on 33 minutes, when everybody went up to get a head to Kingsley Grandisons corner, it fell to the floor and Jack Redshaw was first to react to give City the lead

On 39 minutes a long ball out of the Crewe defence deceived Tom Smith and left the Crewe number 2 free on goal, who was then tumbled to the ground byEirik Johansen. Crewes number 11 then placed his spot kick wide of the post  so City went in at the break one goal to the good

In our abscence for the second half City did score a second goal when Reece Wabara headed home another Grandison corner
