FA PREMIER RESERVE LEAGUE

Tuesday 12th April 2011

Sunderland 2 Manchester City 0

Lynch 41min

Noble 49min

The EDS handed debuts to two young England internationals, Kieran Kennedy and Shay Facey, (who came on for the second half) and therefore became the  40th & 41st players to be used by the club at this level this season.

The MCRAA team arrived late to this game, but were quickly told they had not missed very much, due to a number of injuries, one of which resulted in Scott Kay having to be replaced by Bradley Robinson.

In a first half that looked as though it was not going to yield a goal all changed five minutes from the break. A run out of defence by a Sunderland player ended with the ball at the feet of Sunderlands number nine, Craig Lynch and he squeezed a shot under Eirik Johansen that trickled over the line.

Defeat for City was confirmed minutes into the second half, when the home side doubled their advantage. Reece Wabara was disposessed on the edge of the box and Ryan Noble was left with an easy chance to score.

Citys only real contribution to the game came from a John Guidetti free kick in the closing minutes which the Sunderland keeper Ben Wilson tipped over the bar.
