FA PREMIER RESERVE LEAGUE
Monday 4th April 2011
Woverhampton Wanderers 0 Manchester City 2
Nimely 13 min
Poole 70 min
City’s EDS side continued their pursuit of challenging for top spot in their division with a fine win, at Telford United’s Bucks Head ground against a very experienced Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The home side contained names such as Michael Kightly, Stephen Hunt and Michael Mancienne, goals in in either half by Alex Nimely and James Poole were enough to give the side their fourth win on their travels this season.
Wolves thought they had taken the lead on 12 minutes when Leigh Griffiths headed home a cross from Stephen Hunt , but was flagged offside and to compound things for the home side, City took the lead seconds later, with a fine goal from Nimely, racing past two Wolves players before planting the ball in the bottom corner..
City then lost the services of Nimely with a re-occurrence of a nagging hamstring injury and he was replaced by Jeremy Helan.
Into stoppage time and Mouyokolo got in a timely interception just as it looked odds on as if Ibrahim would score, after a neat flick on by John Guidetti
The home side made more of a fight of it in the second forty five, Freddie Veseli cleared a shot off the line and Loris Karius produced a great save to keep out a header from Hemmings. As Wolves stepped up the pressure to find an equaliser , Chris Chantler cleared another effort off the line
The points were however wrapped up by City with an easy second goal of the game, which involved two players returning from injury with James Poole, converting after Jeremy Helan pulled the ball back into his path.
