Barclays Reserve League

Manchester City 1 Manchester United 0

(Nimely 20mins)

This report will take on a slightly different format as I was only able to get to the match for the final twenty minutes so instead of a report; I will give minute by minute text commentary.

12 mins: Good run by Robbie Mak down the right and his decent cross found Alex Nimley-Tchuimeni free inside the box where the Liberian; come Englishman guided his header just wide when it was a good chance.

19 mins: Oliver Gill booked for foul on James Poole.

20 mins: Goal! City take the lead when return loanee Donal McDermott puts a great ball in from the left where Nimley takes the ball out of the air and controls it before looping the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zeiler and into the back of the goal.

33 mins: Nimley sends in a shot from twenty yards curling just over the crossbar to the background of fireworks from the nearby fair in the south car park.

35 mins: Another chance falls to Nimley; this time it was Mak that provided the cross but this time his header was over instead of being wide.

43 mins: City have a free kick that Paul Marshall fires in from the right; but the decent effort just sails over the crossbar.

Half Time: City 1 – 0 United

46 mins: City make a half time change with McDermott having a full schedule at Chesterfield he only needed a short run out and is replaced by Abdisiliam Ibrahim.

54 mins: Oliver Gill is replaced by Scott Wootton

57 mins: Off! New substitute Wootton brings down Mak when bearing down on goal and the referee has no choice but to brandish a straight red card and give Wootton his early bath ticket.

61 mins: Joe Dugeon is replaced by Fabian Brandy.

67 mins: Oliver Norwood is replaced by Ryan Tunnicliffe

69 mins: Greg Cunningham is called on to make a goal line clearance from Brandy after he had beaten City goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen.

72 mins: Nimley wins the ball on the left and he crosses where Ibrahim miss-hits a shot but the ball falls nicely to Mak who fires over from a good chance to double the lead.

81 mins: Man of the Match Nimley is replaced by John Guidetti.

83 mins: City's two substitutes play their role as Zeiler beats away a fine strike by Ibrahim and in comes Guidetti for the rebound but his effort goes over the crossbar.

86 mins: City's third and final substitution; Andrew Tutte is replaced by Scott Kay.

92 mins: Penalty surely! City's Ibrahim is cynically hacked down in the area from a through ball but the referee spreads his arms to simulate no penalty.

Full Time: City win one nil to stay third in the division; level on points with United but with an inferior goal difference. The league is looking like a three horse race between ourselves, United and current leaders Liverpool.
