(31/05/2011)-U18/U20 Champions League

It is still a bit unclear as to what age group will participate, with conflicting information being given in various internet sources

However what is known is that the draw has now been made and City are in the same group as Barcelona, Marseille and Glasgow Celtic.

We will play each side home and away with the top two from each group going through to the finals. The mini league is to commence in September with progression for the top two to a final tournament to be staged in January 2012 in the Middle East.

One interesting regulation is that the matches must be played in the club’s main stadium, not behind closed doors, and not in the stadium used for reserve matches.

Information as to who is in the second group is a bit scarce but certainly Ajax & Arsenal have been invited

(29/05/2011)-Kennedy called into England Under 19 squad

(29/05/2011)-City to axe reserve side?

Well at least so the Sunday People think so....

MANCHESTER CITY are on the verge of scrapping their reserve team.

City currently have what’s called an Elite Development Squad, a side of mainly under-21s in the Barclays Premier Reserve League North.

But City chiefs feel it will be more beneficial to follow the route Tottenham have taken, and next season will instead loan out all their top young players.

City finished second to Manchester United in their reserve section last season but it’s felt that the players need to play a higher standard of football to make an impact in their first-team squad.

Executives Brian Marwood and Garry Cook are away on holiday, but once they return the subject will be one of their top priorities for discussion.

As City have already been mentioned as being part of the 'New Generation League' next season for Under 21 players, there does not appear to be too much clarity in this report

Perhaps they ment City will pull out of the Barclays Reserve League, but then again if all the players are going out on loan who will play in the NGL

(28/05/2011)-Weiss on loan to Espanyol?

There could be some strength in this rumour as City have a partnership agreement in place with the Spanish side

"City are near to sending Vladimir Weiss on a season-long loan to Espanyol.

Though the Slovakia winger, 21, has developed well during successful spells at Rangers and Bolton Wanderers, City's squad is heavily overmanned with the club attempting to sell or loan at least 10 senior professionals this summer in an attempt to control their wage bill."

(27/05/2011)-Aldershot youth partnership

Aldershot Town FC youth department are delighted to announce an agreement with Manchester City FC for periodic games in addition to the regular games programme for the Elite Centre.

"A big thanks must also go to Dan Low and Steve Clout who have built the Elite Centre and have worked tirelessly to establish these prestigious links."'

(22/05/2011)-Disappointing end to youth tournament

In the under 20 tournament , City lost at the semi final stage to the eventual winners Cruizero, 1-0.

They were then forced to play hours later in a third/fourth play off and came up against hosts ADO Den Haag, despite taking the lead through yet another Jordi Hiwula goal, they were soon 3-1 down , Courtney Meppen Walter pulled one back but it was not enough and City finished fourth despite giving away a number of years to some of the opposition they faced.

(21/05/2011)-ADO Den Haag Tournament

Manchester City's Academy side are currently participating in the 58th International youth tournament in ADO Den Haag, Holland.

The competition consists of two groups of four, with the top two in each group going through to the semi finals.

City's group consists of ADO Den Haag, Zenit St Petersburg & Al Jazira.

In the other group are PSV, Cruizero, Legia Warsaw & RSC Anderlecht.

City won their opening game 1-0 against ADO Den Haag(20/05/2011). The hosts were reduced to ten men as early as the 7th minute and City's goal came from Jordi Hiwula although the Den Haag website have called him Jordy Mayifuila. Connor Sellars was booked for City.

City have topped their group following two more wins today (21/05/2011) defeating Zenit St Petersburg (4-1) with Courtney Meppen Walter scoring twice, the other goals came from Harry Bunn and Jordi Hiwula, later in the day they met Al Jazira (3-1) and despite George Evans being dismissed, a brace of goals from Jordi Hiwula and a Adam Drury effort were enough to send City into the Semis where they will face Cruizero(22/05/2011).
