Alex Nimely Alex Nimely

Date of Birth: 11/05/1991

Quite what Alex Nimely achieved before he joined Manchester City is up for some debate. What is certain is that as a 15 year-old playing in the Cameroon for Coton Sport, a leading team, he scored twice in an African Champions League match. It was perhaps this which highlighted his exploits and attracted the interest of Manchester City, who signed the player in January of 2008 on a four-year contract.

Portsmouth and Blackburn were also interested but either refused to make an offer or refused to pay Nimely what he wanted. At any rate, he made an instant impact at City, scoring in the FA Youth Cup en route to the team winning the trophy, although he missed both legs of the Final. In May of the same year he rejected calls from Liberia to represent them at International level, preferring to chance his lucky with England, where his father was born.

Very strong, Nimely also plays an intelligent game, capable of dropping into midfield and creating as well as finishing. He benefits from his physical strength amongst kids as well as playing in a strong offensive team, but has shown enough to suggest he can achieve something  in the game.
