Oldham Athletic 5 Manchester City 6

Bunn(2)

Henshall(2)

Robinson

Coulson

Phew what a game this was, spectacular goals, poor refereeing, shocking goalkeeping, nail biting stuff in a game that City had dominated for long periods of time, but how it ended up with the final scoreline , no one will really know.

City looked in control of the game after establishing a two goal lead.Bradley Robinson(in for the injured Joan Roman Olle) opened the scoring on 9 minutes when he burst from midfield and walloped in a spectacular 25 yard shot that nestled in the top corner.Oldham had already escaped  an early warning when Luke Coulson struck the inside of a post on four minutes when his cross from the right took a deflection

City went 2-0 up on 33 minutes when the Oldham keeper parried a shot from Adam Drury into the path of Harry Bunn and he finished from close range

Then the fight back started, Oldham were awarded a free kick on the left, which was floated into the box and the big number 4 James Tarkowski rose unchallenged and headed home. Then on the stroke of half time Oldham levelled, Karius palmed a corner into the path of an Oldham player and Matt A Carr was on hand to finish

Immediately from the restart City were back in the lead Harry Bunn fired home from inside the box, Luke Coulson then made it 4-2 when he drove home a low shot. City scored a fifth on 54 minutes when Alex Henshall beat two Oldham players and angled the ball past the keeper.

Their appeared to be a bit of controversy over City's sixth goal, Oldham were appealing for a foul by Harry Bunn on Tarkowski, but he continied his run into the box, his shot was kept out by the keeper but Henshall was on hand to finish from six yards out.

Then the fight back started again Ryan Burns scored for Oldham on 79 minutes  and a further goal came on 85 minutes to make it 4-6.Nobody in the City defence would take resposibility for clearing the ball, as it pinged around the box, with two Oldham players claiming they had scored. Kieran Kennedy handled the ball on the line and just as if it looked as though the referee was going to give a penalty Kyle Riley fired into the back of the net although Carr was trying also to claim the goal as he was convinced it had crossed the line before Kennedy handled it

Deep into injury time Oldham scored again Sam Fitzgerald scoring directly from a free kick although Karius must be asking himself why  he allowed it to sail over his head
