Forthcoming Fixtures

It turns out that this fixture was an academy pre-season fixture that did not include any over eighteens and so could not be described as a reserve side. However the young City team aquitted themselves very well at Stainton Park as they ran out three two victors.

City included four trialists in their starting line up and a fifth came on in the second half; all which looked pretty good and did nothing really wrong.

City's first goal came in the tenth minute when a surging run by Harry Bunn was seized upon, as a pass through to him was inch perfect and he was able to beat the offside trap and chip the ball over the onrushing Radcliffe goalkeeper.

City doubled their lead just before the half hour mark when sustained pressure after a set piece free kick allowed Kim Skogsrud to head in a cross at the near post.

Radcliffe pulled  a goal back near half time when a deflected shot from the right unfortunately looped over City's trialist goalkeeper into the far corner of the goal.

City were able to regain their two goal cushion just over quarter of an hour into the second half when a half cleared corner fell to Paul Clowes about twenty five yards out and he hit the ball first time on the volley and into the top right corner of the goal.

Radcliffe were able to pull a further goal back with just over five minutes remaining with a bit of a mix up in the City defence but in all honesty City were never really under threat at allowing Radcliffe to draw level.

Here at MCRAA we have heard that the academy have another pre-season friendly at Platt Lane this Saturday; but details of which we have not been able to confirm, if we can we shall let you know as soon as we can.
