PRE SEASON FIXTURE

Wednesday 18th August 2010

Rhyl 0 v Manchester City XI  1

Henshall(34)

City's academy last played at Rhyl in the summer of 2001 in a mini tournament including Juventus and Aston Villa and back then it was when it was an U19 team. City continued to field a few new faces that have played in a few of the pre-season matches. City scored the only goal of the match in the thirty fourth minute when Alex henshall converted an adam Drury cross.

Since City was at Rhyl's Belle Vue ground they have had to upgrade their seating to gain their UEFA licence and it was them that started the better of the two teams as they put pressure on the City goal. However it was City who finally took the lead when a spell of about ten minutes or so where Adam Drury terrorized the Rhyl left back and put in a fine cross that Alex Henshall only had to tap in at the far post.

City continued to dominate the game until later after a few changes in the team which seemed to give the home side a little space and create a few chances; but once City settled down it was them that finished the stronger and Albert Rusnack could have had a hat-trick had his shooting been a little more accurate.

This was City's final academy pre-season and now welcolme Arsenal to Platt Lane for their opening academy league game of the season this saturday morning at eleven am.
