Stoke Fail to Halt City's 8 Match Winning Run

MCFC U18s 1 – 0 SCFC U18s

A poor game by City’s standards, as they battled out a narrow win, divided by a fine free kick strike by Paul Marshall; but ensured City’s winning run, now eight matches, as they march towards the title unabated.
City made a change to last week’s starting eleven with Scott Kay absent from the team, so Adam Clayton came inside to centre midfield and Donal McDermott played wide right.
City scored in the ninth minute when Ched Evans was tackled clumsily about twenty five yards from goal. Karl Moore stood over the ball as we waited to see whether it would be the waiting Marshall or Clayton ready to strike the direct free kick. Up stepped Marshall with a fine strike that left the Stoke goalkeeper stranded.
Only Karl Moore seemed to be having a good game of the forwards or attacking players and both David Ball and Evans should have done better with chances. Evans did have a goal ruled out in the second half for pushing when the ball fell fortuitously on his head and off into the net.
The victory still leaves City ten points clear with Bolton winning 4-0 today, but they do have a game in hand.
City travel to Wolves next week before a week’s break when they will face Bolton at home.

City: Mentel(GK), Vidal, Mee, McDonald, Breen(Capt.), Marshall, Clayton, McDermott(Poole 58), Evans, Ball, Moore.

A fantastic result for the U16s however as they ran out 7(Seven) - 0 victors, their biggest victory this season.
