City Stop Wolves Howling - Update
MCFC U18s 1 - 0 WWFC U18s
A very blustery day at Platt lane saw City's U18s go five points clear in their group thanks to a one nil victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers courtesy of an Ian Daly penalty early in the first half
when Robbie Mak was fouled running into the area.
City played against the wind in the first half and did well to keep the ball on the deck as they tried to venture up field, but Wolves are a strong physical side and City had a couple of regulars not
playing; but they took the lead in the eighth minute when Robbie Mak burst into the box but was caught and he went to ground and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Ian Daly
stepped up and drove his shot down the middle and sent the keeper diving to his left.
Both keepers played well today to deny City scoring further and Wolves to get back in the game, but on chances City just edged it and looked a better team than they have done in a few weeks.
With Everton only managing a draw against Bolton last week and their league game this weekend being postponed due to the Youth Cup, City have a good five point cushion and puts the pressure back on
Everton.
City: Mentel(GK), M Daly(Capt), Morris, Mee, Boyata, Tsiaklis, Weiss, Ibrahim(Kay), Mak(Poole), I Daly, McDermott.
The U16s played today in the streaming rain and wind and it was not a game for defences as City with the last kick of the game levelled the scores to make it 5 - 5!!! It certainly helped us
spectators try to stay warm in the horrendous conditions.
